We were given the task of re lamping Trojan’s 48 x 250w High Pressure Sodium Low Bay Light Fittings with an energy efficient solution, without reducing light level or quality of light.
HOURS of USE: The fittings are used between 5AM and 7PM – 14 hours per day.
DAYS of USE: Trojan warehouses operate 6 days per week for 300 days per year, average running hours are 25200 per annum. Electricity costs 8p/kWh.
We chose to utilise existing light fittings, re-lamping with a quality LED conversion.
Pre LED conversion, the fittings would have cost £24192 per year to run.
Post LED conversion, the fittings cost £6773.76 per year to run.
Our solution gives a quality, crisp, instant light for over 50,000 hours before maintenance will be required, with less than half the running cost of the existing High Pressure Sodium lamps.
In addition, there is no warm up time, and the LED lamps have instant re-strike should power fail whereas traditional HPS fittings require 10 minutes between switching.
To enhance savings even further, occupancy detection has now been fitted to the isles. This means the lights will only be lit when required, maximising natural light from the sky lights. Based on a very generous 5 hours per day, 6 days per week, Trojan are now saving an additional £4354.56 per year.
Post occupancy detection, the fittings now cost £2419.20 per year to run.
Total saving per year: £21772.80
Total savings over life of lamps: £93844
Following the success of the energy efficient lighting scheme Trojan are now planning LED lamp conversions for the rest of their buildings.
